NRA/Ohio CCW Course: a busy, but fun weekend...

Just finished up instructing twelve hours of NRA Basic Pistol Course and Ohio License to Carry a Concealed Handgun training.  I always enjoy teaching the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely own and use a pistol.

We even dug out the combat Tupperware...

This was the first time through the course with the newest edition of the Ohio Attorney General's booklet on Ohio's License to Carry a Concealed Handgun law which changed again on September 30, 2011.  Our law isn't perfect, but it seems to get a little better with each revision.

There's nothing better than getting back to fundamentals.

  1. Can't know the basics too well. Where can I buy some of that good ol' Lester's Ammo?

  2. @TJ: They sure have some humorous signs at that web site... My wife has a little metal sign that says, "I missed my husband, but my aim is getting better."...

  3. If it's not a whole laundry list, what are the new additions to Ohio's code? I teach Basic Pistol just across the border in Huntington WV and I want to be able to tell my Ohio students what's up! I've downloaded the manual but I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not familiar enough with Ohio's code to know what's new and what's old!

  4. @Crystal: The two biggest changes with the recent legislation that became law are restaurant carry and reduced restrictions while carrying CCW in a vehicle... the Buckeye Firearms Association has a terrific summary...
